This year's NME was held in Las Vegas which came with both good and bad things. The good things were there was tons to do, people to watch and maybe a chance to win some money. The bad was too many distractions, hard to focus on NME and easy to lose money. I was lucky to have share a room with two great Podcasters, Charles from Insomnia Radio SoCal and Steve from Geek Cred (check their shows out!) With those two, I always had a fun time and met lots of people they knew. On this episode, Charles and I did some poolside recording of our perceptions on the show. There's also some great music Charles' recommended and a couple of other surprises. A slide show of my pics will be up in a couple days so check back!

I love electro! Electro of all types. Hyper Crush and Millionaires are electro music to party and dance to. What they may lack in depth they make up for in fun. This is Part 1 of a 2 part episode: a video episode and an audio episode. Part 1 is the video which has just small portions of the interview that will be part of the audio episode, plus a couple other surprises. The video gives a good view of 2 young, enthusiastic, awesome bands on tour.

On this episode I actually folllow through with something I promise from the previous MPAD episode! It's a video taken from Phonotropic's Wicked Awesome Barbequed Musical Safari...Yesss! Fun was had, drink turned into drunk and music carried the night away. Last night I got to check out the Art Fag DJ collective at Vernor's Room which was cool, but that isn't the point. I was told by friends that I should see the Hard Lessons, but all I heard was comparisons to the White Stripes who I am just not much of a fan for. But, I made my way over to see the Hard Lessons and they were BRILLIANT! Completely at the top of their game, rocking out like a national headliner and having friends from other bands join them on stage. They made me a believer and you'll hear them on MPAD real soon.

As for this week's episode, I split up the talk from the music. I have a 15 minute mix at the beginning that includes a demo from one of my favorite local bands, the Nice Device, then, the mix gets funky and trippy (where's that sample from?) leading to something from Girl Talk's latest (which you can download online). The talk covers the latest albums I've listened to, a new technology toy and some crazy song that's been driving me crazy! Enjoy.

I think this is my first "author" interview episode. John Sellers is the author of "Perfect From Now On: How Indie Music Saved My Life" and has also contributed articles to Spin, GQ, The New York Times and more. He's an obsessive music fan that I could spend countless hours at a bar arguing over which Smiths song is best or which bands should really reunite. So about three years ago I put out my first MPAD episode. I looked at the show as my way of spreading what I deem as good, under appreciated music and other artistic endeavors to an audience larger than the few friends I have been talking and playing this stuff to for years. Doing anything for 3 years on a consistent basis is significant. It's even more significant when you can point to results and events that make the work worthwhile. I can point to friends that I've made, the listeners that I have and events that have made the last 3 years special enough to keep doing this crazy new media show. This week's episode is a typical show with a few new bands I've come across with great songs and some banter about the event I DJ'd (well, sort of) over the weekend.

I hope everyone is having a great 4th of July weekend! As I sit here with a sunburn on my face of all places, I'm trying to hide from the sun. In celebration of Indendence Day, I am interviewing an independent artist that pushes the limits of life and music, Dan Diamond. His songs such as Titty Dancer and Bad Habits uncover the seedy lifestyle we normally watch and cheer on from the bleacher seats. Always enjoying the view but never sure if we'd want trade places.
